Global Macro Hedge funds have the broadest mandate of any of the other major fund strategies. As a result, the strategy each of these funds employs, and the markets it trades, can vary from fund to fund. However, generally speaking, these funds trade in the major fixed-income and stock markets and also tend to be active in currencies. The strategy tends to be based on using a "top down" view to analyze economic trends evolving across the world, and than trading the variety of markets within the fund's mandate accordingly. This site is geared towards "macro trading". The research found on the main page, as well as the seperate regional pages, Asia, Emerging Markets, and North America, and the more "trade" oriented strategies in the Trade Strategy section, are examples of the types of trades/research global macro funds tend to do.
